Once again, I've had this chip prove to be the best beast for your dollar. Overclocks like a champ, runs anything you can throw at it. I've used it for several builds including my personal machine and never hesitate to recommend it to others. Top notch.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Not the best cpu for video editing ( only 4 cores ) but still realy good.

Pros:Best deal for gaming. Not power hungry.
Comment:
I got mine 3 months ago from an other seller (was cheaper from it at that time) and I must say I am very impressed by the overclocking capability of this chip. I managed to get 4.8GHz stable out of mine with an asrock extreme3 gen3 mobo, but I kept it at 4.6GHz for 24/7, because it gives me a better performance/watts ratio. Not every chip will do 4.8, but i never heard of someone not able to get at least 4.4. Even at those speeds, the chips stay realy cool whit an after market cooler.

This this is a sweet CPU to OC!Using turbo feature on P8P67 EVO. I put it on the Prime 95 turtore test for 8 hours with a four.7GHz OC with no missing a beat. I have a Hyper 212 Plus instead of the stock cooler and it stayed rock solid at 60C. It idles at 31C. I decided to see what it could do and when I pushed it up to 5.2Ghz I finally got a BSOD. I decided to opt for stability so I've been on (upto) 4.7 with turbo for a week now with out a hitch. How cares about adequate video when you can acquire a "reasonable" card for two bills. Go get the march concern of MaximumPC for recommendations on a card. I guess how good this CPU can be is a matter of perspective. If you are finally finding around to an upgrade from a 2 core CPU, this is slicker than snot. I waited for the "new" CPU on the roumers a while back that this would be a new chipset. If you already have an i5 or i7 ... possibly not such a true need to have to upgrade.

flies like no tomorrow. came from an old P4 Northwood clocked at 2.8 GHz on the old S478...i wonder how i lasted that long on that thing.haven't had much time to OC yet but so far seems stable at 5 GHz (1.48 V) but don't intend to keep it there. just to give you an idea of its potential.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:No hyperthreading

Pros:Price to performance ratio is through the roof
Comment:
Everything that I read about this chip turned out to be true. It is fast and overclocks like a beast. This chip hasn't let me down and I would replace it without thinking if an act of god took it away from me.The only thing that some people might not like is the lack of hyperthreading, which the 2600k offers for ~$100 more, but I never intended to use the chip for encoding video, etc. This was bought with gaming in mind and I have never been more happy with my rig than when I got this chip.

Crazy newegg Paired with an MSI P67A-GD53 and 8 GB ƒx4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz RipjawsI at present have it clocked at 4.8 Ghz @ 1.312v. I got lucky with my chip as it is an overclocking fiend

I was choosing between the i5 and the i7. After some thorough investigation I went with this processor. I saved $100'ish bucks compared to the 2600K and am very pleased with the result. My old PC had CPU bottleneck issues when gaming. This processor has solved this and has no problem working in tandem with my GTX 580 =)

What can I say more that has not been said ? I use my system primarly for gaming and this processor rocks (its Tom's Hardware best CPU for gaming in this price range). Paired this with Corsair A50 cooler an a Gygabyte Z68 borad and i couln't be happier. I didn't overclock it yet but plan on doing it. You just can't go wrong with Sandy Bridge.

very good for gaming, runs cool and quit even using stock heatsink.according to review numbers, its better than AMD 6 core cpu.only problem for intel cpu is that they change stock/mb chip too often, not sure if my brand new 1155 mb can be used when next generation is out.

I just upgraded from an AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE. It was a great processor, but the 2500k crushed it. I feel bad because I've been only using AMD cpu's since my first build in 1998.

Got this on Boxing Day for an excellent price (190$). Don't plan on OCing this thing, which is kind of a waste, but considering I got it cheaper than I could a regular 2500, I don't really care. Not much more to say - excellent performance and value overall as a higher mid range CPU.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:As with all chips, there is a good bit of variation from chip to chip regarding OC ceiling and voltage. No hyperthreading.

Pros:Stable, highly overclockable, cool. Great performance and value.
Comment:
The 2500k has a fully unlocked multiplier, so the stock 3.3GHz can easily become 4.5-4.8 with minor tweaking, though each chip will vary. c4.5GHz and 1.320v my hottest core idles at 28-32C and reached max temp of 61C after many hours of large FFT Prime 95. I've had zero stability problems and I'm quite happy with how little voltage is necessary to OC this thing over 1.2GHz. I'll update  my performance review after benchmarking a bit, but so far the upgrade from OC'd Q6600 is substantial.I've paired this with a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ (push/pull) on an Asus P8Z68-v/GEN3, and I'm pleased with this setup. The 2500k is all the processer most will need for gaming, multitasking, and CPU-intensive tasks. However, if you spend a lot of time using highly threaded programs, the i7s do have a moderate performance advantage in those situations due to hyperthreading. At the usual price of $225+ this CPU is a great value for very competitive performance, but at a sub $200 sale price it is a steal, and if you don't require hyperthreading you should buy it.

Got this CPU along with a p67x-ud3-b3 gigabyte board and it works like a charm. I didn't know there was thermal paste on the bottom of the stock heatsink so I smudged it with my finger a little bit. But it works very nice with my system. Very good quality CPU.
