great router for the inexperienced
Comment:
Purchased this without ever having set up a wireless router. Very easy to setup, worked perfectly right out of the box. Good strong signal from the get-go. Signal reaches anywhere in my two story 3000 square foot house, using the d-link dwa-130 wireless adapter on my old computer. Would definitely buy it again.

Great signal strength and coverage area
Comment:
This router is downstairs in my den towards the front of the house and I still get great reception upstairs in the back rooms, the Linksys it replaced did not even show up at this range. Pros: great coverage, lots of features. Cons: Shareport utility for MAC does not work!!

Had a few problems on installation, but then I ignored the installation disk and went to their web site for the router. That worked great.

D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
Cons:Could use a signal strength boost without having to resort to external antennas

Pros:dependable, secure, easy interface
Comment:
Router is one of the best. Backwards compatible with all my devices. Love the security features, making it one of the most secure routers on the market. Never drops connections. It mantains connection with isp and renews when dropped (power outage). Wireless is solid, but could use a signal strenght boost. optional external antenna is ok but does not really provide a stronger signal. It does however provide more flexibility for antenna placement which could result in better coverage. Modem temperature stays reasonable. Network throughput is awesome.

D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
Cons:i think qos doesn't work for me.

Pros:fast, relieable, great range+speed.
Comment:
i bought this about a week ago. i used to have the linksys wrt54g witch was very slow. this router is 5x better than the G router i had. faster net speed, more range, and reliable.but, for newbies, there are too much stuff in the router;s control panel

This router was very easy to setup and works just fine. However, the lights are blindingly bright - WOW! Not recommended for use in a bedroom office.

Very easy to use
Comment:
I installed this router about 4 months ago. I purchased it because I have to go a long distance from my modem to my computer. I wasn't sure if this would go the distance, but I get excellent signal. I have 3 computers each with a different OS and a wireless printer and setup was a snap for all 4 connections. I have been using the push feature so it installes the key for you. This is the way it should be.

Problematic Router
Comment:
This router has given me nothing but grief. Even after installing the latest firmware it continuously dropped connections and now collects dust as I use a new Linksys Cisco 300 Mbps 802.11 N 4 port router...with zero issues...I will not recommend the D-link Dir-655, it's just garbage.

Perfect
Comment:
I received this as a gift and couldn't resist hooking it up and using it before Christmas. Its a perfect solution for my network needs. It is a snap to hook up and configure even with a dual router system I now have, with my old router doing my VoIP function, this one gives me the speed I need on the LAN ports without yet another hub, and reliable wireless connections. I have not tried using the USB interface yet, would be perfect to have the printer attached there.

Excellent Router
Comment:
Used it for 2 years straight on a daily basis averaging 8 to 12 hours per day. Operating on backup battery. No problems. Running multiple desktops with both 10-100 and gigabit adapters, laptops with different wireless adapters. Very good range across entire home.

Good router, but can't access features
Comment:
I suppose this is a good router. Everyone says so, but I bought it with the intention of using it's USB port to allow my three home computers to access my one printer, and now I am unable to configure it. I've spent hours reading the manual and watching the videos on the D-link site before finally giving up. I've been building computers for years and configuring systems since DOS 4, but I've never run into anything like these people have hatched. I'll just use it as a router with Windows 7 networking and forget the printer server feature. Waste of money, effort and time. My last D-Link product.

Ok, I wish I had gone dual band
Comment:
This is pretty good but to get full speed you will need to get the Extreme Wireless N adapter for the computer. The wireless N built into my computer only lets me hit speeds of 130mpbs. It does have tons of great features and lets you control every thing. It does an ok job of sending the bandwidth to VOIP and streaming but if you have a download going it still eats too much bandwidth.

One of the best router out there!
Comment:
I own this router for 2 years now and so far I haven't had any issues with it. This router is pretty stable and has really good performance. The menu configuration is a bit getting use to but once you work with it. You will see how easy it is to add devices, configure your network and so on. I have never experience disconnection from it.

D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
Cons:- Firmware needs to be updated as soon as you plug it in, as it includes many fixes. You also must disable some silly security feature, SecureSpot.- Had some connectivity issues with one out of three of our laptops. Some easy fixes found online remedied them. - No custom firmware available.

Pros:- Supports gigabit ethernet and draft-n.- Easy to setup. - Simple administration interface.
Comment:
I bought this to replace an old, and rock solid Linksys WRT54GL, mainly due to the support for gigabit ethernet. It took some updating and configuring to get working correctly. Overall, a good router.

Awesome performer
Comment:
Worked great out of the box. Bought this to replace my old DSL router. The wizard on the CD would not log onto my old router like it was supposed to so that it could read all of the existing settings and copy them to the new router, but I just logged onto my old router and copied the settings before unhooking it. Then I installed the new router and logged onto it using web browse and the default IP address. The new router has about 200 more options and settings than the old router but due to the advanced webpage style interface, setup was fast and easy. All I had to do to get online again was enter the ISP login name, pw, and the primary and secondary DNS server values. Adding wireless devices with full encryption was a lot easier than I imagined it would be and those devices (i.e. PSP and two PS3s), have been working perfectly. Since installing this new router, my DSL speed jumped up from 75 kBps to 110 kBps. I never knew that it would actually improve my DSL :-)

Had an old Lynksy that needed updating. Read reviews and settled on the D-Links 655. I've had this unit has not let me down yet and has not needed to be rebooted. My 2 laptops run well from about 50' going through 2 walls. Happy with purchase.

Decent
Comment:
It's a decent router with a few added features than what I'm used to. I don't put a lot of faith into routers at all these days, if they last till just outside warranty I am surprised. been using it for a month now and not had any issues with it at all yet. Have several wired PCs and a printer attached including numerous wifi clients. Torrents and games going at the same time and no noticeable issues as yet...
