D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router

I purchased this product to replace my Linksys wireless-G Model: WRT54G and have tried all setup instructions with the original installation CD but no luck. I could only get it connected to my original Linksys router and it is currently working as a switch. When I connect it straigt to my Motorolla Surfboard Cable modem it never connects to the internet. I'm getting ready to return it and do not want a replacement.

I've been using this router for 7 months and absolutely love it. It hasn't failed me yet. Installation was a snap. I highly recommend this router.

i dunno what some people are talking about but man ive had this router for a month now and i put this router through its paces i use it for online gaming with my pc my xbox 360 my ps3 and i use it for streaming tv signals through to my 360 and and there is also to other computers running wireless off this router all day long and plus another 360 in another room also used for online gaming and media streaming an it hasnt failed me yet and i also use the shareport on the back for a printer as well.

I purchased 7 of these units for a conference event and they worked flawlessly. The Distance was great even if the end user was on a G. The setup was easy and quick .. I didn't use the CD (used web interface with standard ip address). Each of the routers handled about 80 users wireless wise which was a surprise.

This router was easy to set up and works great ,very fast,haven't used for gaming yet will add more to review later if needed.

Installed this router as a wireless access point for an office and it had disappointing results. Had to do power cycles and restarts about 2 to 3 times daily. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I have gone through three of this router in just 3 months!! I have spent close to $35 total shipping the bad routers back to Dlink. Waiting on the 4th. For over seven years, never had problems with Belkin wireless router I was using. My upgrade experience from Belkin to Dlink has been horrible. I will NEVER spend a cent to purchase a Dlink product again.

I bought 2 of these, tinkered with the first one for hours, never got it to stay connected. If it keeps disconnecting (LAN and WAN) just return it, don't spend your time trying to trouble shoot it. Second was up and running in 5 minutes (no drops). I had to revise my review, because to be fair(not allowed to post two reviews, one was not working well (waiting for replacement) and the second works great.

This unit replaces my old Linksys router. What a change. Easy to install and configure. No interference issues noticed so far. Range is very good though I noticed it is not the same in all directions. For some weird reason vertical range is way better than horizontal but this should not be a big issue anyway.Overall, a very solid product. Would recommend to a friend.

I tried other N routers and returned them to the store. This router is located in my basement and is connected to 3 computers via wireless (on the first floor), a wireless printserver, and also a XBOX 360 hardwired. Performance is great and signal strength is excellent. Setup was easy, just follow the CD instructions. 3 external antennas make all the difference. Thanks for another good experience!

easy to set up and use. Solved the 360 problem and we no longer have our computers dropping off the internet. Shipped when said and was an easy website to use. Have purchased from here since.

Range and security of this D-Link DIR-655 far exceeds other 'N' factor routers! The ease of installation is outstanding. Just slip in the CD and follow the step-by-step instructions accompanied by animated graphics. Trouble shooting - the D-Link software during installation found network errors (Microsoft based) prompted me then instituted corrections. The DIR-655 well worth the price and far exceeds any other 'N' factor routers. My firm experienced with installing several thousands of routers and this according to my network team was the easiest and fastest. Plus the range and security sets the benchmark!

My streaming music and video no longer skip or pause while playing. I can watch TV episodes without a problem now. I can listen to my favorite streaming internet radio player without skipping now. 1Gbs rocks rules! My USB printer now connects to this router so I can use the printer from both computers on the router without networking. You just have to remember to click on the green icon and connect.

This D-link Router works all the way to my back bedroom, the router is in the living room and I'm all the way at the very back of the house, my wifi,alway's say's the strenth is very good or excellent. I have my printer hooked on it, but it has never worked for me back here but it works for my husbands Dell in the living room. I have not tried to see if it will work lately, I don't know if it because mine is wireless and his is ethernet.

I like this router quite a bit. It works great with my Laptop, Wii, DSi, Zune HD, and my printer that I've network through it. How ever I have one problem with this router. For some odd reason my LG BD 390 seems to tell me that I'm not connected to a network when I try to use online content (Netflix, CinimanNow, Vudu) but when I go into settings to check connection status it says I am connected. This doesn't happen often but enough to be annoyed. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the Blu-Ray players firmware though as I got this router right when a new firmware update came out for it or if it is a compatibility problem between the devices.

Despite three long sessions with an overseas help center this device would not work and was sent back. I have two G routers that work just fine on my 6 month old Dell.

I picked this up almost a year ago on sale. It was a huge upgrade from my old wired router. The wireless N and port forwarding worked like a charm and the user interface was really easy to use. I never upgraded the firmware so I don't know if that will cause or fix any issues, but I get some sporadic disconnects when I'm using the wired connection.

Got his today, Oct. 21, which in itself is great. Can't beat TD's fast shipping. Opened it and in about 10 minutes was up and flying. I upgraded my internet connection, BIG difference between my old 802.11g and this (draft)n. Max's out all the bandwidth tests I've run. In a word.... Very Happy. Ok, that was two words.

Stay away from this POS. Got home, couldnt get the router to connect wired to two main desktop, was gonna return, plug it into 3comp(laptop) with orginal firmware, finally get it to connect wired to the laptop.Wireless always can connect to the router gateway.I got disconnected daily in the morning, some day hardset will bring internet back, other day no luck.tried everything, manually DSN,dns relay off,etc etc.I hope my new one works better, or im gonna have a good time breaking the shi3t out of it.Caused me times and money.Even the crappy 2wire gateway telus didnt give me this much trouble.

have had this hooked up for about 2 weeks and it worked great on the home lap top. Getting my daughters lap top to work took a little doing but it was going in a day. so far it has been great

I don't have a N card yet, so I might pick up one down the road. I used to have a stock router that the ISP gave me and it was crap... always dc'ing and stuff, I went from 1 bar to 5 bars with this new router, simply amazing! I looks great too! My parents sometimes got DC'd and their pretty much sitting right beside it, I did some investigating and I think the culprit was driver confliction so I fixed it, but the other day I lost my internet completely for no reason and I had to reinstall the drivers and stuff, no biggy though.
