D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
Cons:no print server that i could discern, although there is a USB port on the device - would have been a sweet feature

Pros:Excellent coverage, gigabit wired, good overall speed
Comment:
Got this to replace a wired dlink/wireless linksys setup I had, mostly for the gigabit connectivity to my NAS. So far so good. Setup was a breeze, and I was impressed by the amount of advanced features that let me tweak my network.

Easy setup, love the usb port
Comment:
Had the router one day now, very easy setup, and I know nothing about routers. Have a desktop, laptop and the WII on the router now along with an external drive that plugs in the USb. Router sees them all and they work perfectly so far. Range is very good, i have the router in the basement and my office in the attic three floors up..in a very old home with thick walls and floors etc. I get five bars (excellent signal) in the attic. Just wish more than one computer could access the USb port at once, but for $100, I can't complain...

Fast and Fabulous
Comment:
The router was easy to install and setup. I bought the dir 655 wireless router for the features. I have a wired network with two computer and my wife just bought a laptop with wireless features built in. With dir 655 I was able to keep my wired network and connect the laptop to the network as a wireless connection.

Can beat the price and performance
Comment:
I was looking for a inexpensive router to have out here in my remote home and this site once again never lets me down with the price. The modem itself was easy to set up when using the IP address, the disk was a pain to use with my mac for so reason. I like the design and the performance through my apartment is on point.

Works well but can't get shared port to work
Comment:
The router works well. The range is good. The speed is fine. I just can't get the sharedport to work. It does not recognize that my Canon Pixma printer/scanner is plugged into it. Other than that it works well and set-up was easy.

Excellent router, but SharePort is overrated
Comment:
The router, with its web interface, built-in firewall, wireless protocols, etc. is excellent. SharePort, however, is overrated: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've updated the firmware twice now to try to get it to work (two different versions of SharePort) but it simply isn't reliable. I may have to but a separate print server to get my USB printer to work properly..

A very good router!
Comment:
What can you say about a router? This one works great and has an easy to use interface. Has all of the features that you would need for any application. I really like the dynamic DNS updater. You can buy this router with confidence in my opinion.

D-Link DIR-655 Router
Comment:
The easiest router I've ever set up. Like others, I didn't even need the CD to set up, but later I went back to the site and went through the entire set up manually. I've not had one shut down in the month I've owned it. It is well made, well packaged, and the documentation is easy to follow. Another winner! Great shipping and packaging too!

Range not as good as advertised
Comment:
The editor notes "It apparently can operate up to 14 times the speed and six times the range of an equivalent wireless G product because it is a draft 802.11n compliant device." It is a solid router and easy to install, but to state that is 14 time faster with six times the range is simply ridiculous. You can get any number of routers just as good for less.

Amazing Router but mixed standard users be warned!
Comment:
I've used nothing but D-Link products for going on 10 years now and their stuff just keeps getting better and better. We have VoIP at home and previously, if I was downloading too much, our calls would get choppy. The Intelligent QoS is a lifesaver for this. Also, we have an HTPC in the livingroom hooked up to our bigscreen so we can stream movies and shows from a Gigabit enabled NAS. One warning however with users new to the 802.11 N scene. If you have multiple wireless devices in your house like I do, using mixed standards of G and N, the router will default to G if even a single G device is connected! This is not a limitation of D-Link's product, but rather of the current Draft-N standard. If you want to stream high def movies to your HTPC but your wife wants to surf Facebook on her G enabled Netbook, your N connection will drop from 300 to 54mbps! Solution: Turn your old G wireless router into an access point. You can find several tutorials on the net on how to do this.

This product works great! The main unit is upstairs and works for computers downstairs. Much better than the one I had before made by another company. It is also less expensive than the other brand.

Cooll product for smooth networking
Comment:
Excellent across the board. One small thing is that you have to go thru the steps to set up each wireless device to get the passwords correct. Other than that... great coverage

Setup was easy, didn't use included software, just default settings. Plugged it in to my computer, set up using browser. Last router kept dropping the satellite modem. This one hasn't disconnected once!

GOOD PRODUCT
Comment:
Not as easy as it may seem to set up had to contact my internet provider for help. No luck in contacting D-Link customer service. Router works throughout my house for two desk tops, one laptop and X-Box. I would recomend this router but unless you have very good knowledge of setting up routers you will need help.

D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
Cons:Wireless cuts in and out when using wireless g, firmware still buggy, low quality components, hi rate of failure

Pros:Wide range of features, excellent wired lagless gaming play, nice web interface, easy to set up.
Comment:
Alright here's my experience with this router. I plugged it in and setup my basic home network on this router which consists of 2 wireless connections, 2 wired connections and a usb printer. Out of the box and while it still worked I noticed a new firmware update. I proceeded to flash the device and everything was fine. My wife noticed the wireless laptop was having connection issues which I figured may have been the qos setting in the router and nothing more. I went to work and low and behold the router started rebooting by itself and all light flashing on the router... well more like flickering. I attempted to get into the web based interface with no luck at all as the router was rebooting every 30sec or locking up and needing a hard power-off (reboot/reset). In any event it took less than 48 hours for this router to die in an air conditioned room. I've read other peoples reviews on this model and the revision doesn't seem to matter. Mine was an A4 revision. When the thing worked it worked great for wired and I'm sure the wireless would also be great give more configuring with the router. My experience with routers and IT is extensive as that's was I do in the military. This router it highly rated for the ones that work... My only grip will be the high rate of "lemon's" dlink has put out for this model. I have always liked dlink routers and I hope the RMA I get doesn't disappoint... if it does then i'll go with the dlink825. Buyer beware with this router. I would not suggest this unit to anyone who has limited router knowledge due to the fact of it needing to be "proven". Also the usb port on the router requires software on the connecting devices in order to utilize the device on the usb port. I though this fact was unfortunate and will likely stick with my print "server" unit. If you look on dlink's website there are many technical support posts in the companies forums related to this router. Basically, if you get one that isn't defective it will work great. I'm giving this product 2/5 stars because of my experience... if it worked better and I didn't have to ship the thing back out of my wallet for the rma that would be better. (That was with the extra shipping insurance btw)

Fast and Reliable!
Comment:
This Router was faster than any other brand had to offer. It is reliable, good at going through doors and walls compared to routers with less antennas, and is capable of streaming HD videos to my PS3. It was used to replace a failing Netgear WPN824v2. Now it has been running none stop, hooked up to a UPS, with no problems. It is running so well that I bought another one for my relative's apartment.
