D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router

Having basic knowledge in this field of computing I relied strictly on the good reviews I found on the Internet and also from my new Wireless Provider. Because of my inexperience in this field I found the set up of a Wireless Internet Connection to be quiet challenging however, I managed to do it and the DIR-655 is a great affordable unit and it is working perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone.

Best router I have ever had. The only issue I have had with it is that sometimes when I am playing a game it seems to cut out briefly, but after that it works fine with no other issues, so it maybe the game thats the issue. I do highly recommend this router.

I have had this for about a month now and has been working great. The signal strength is good. I have my Wifi laptop and PS3 going at the same time and computer in my office connected(wired) with no problems. Highly recommended product.

I have had this router since it was first available (circa firmware version 1.10). I upgraded about 2 months ago to firmware 1.33 (from 1.20) and this router is annoying to work with as D-Link decided to include a messed up version of BSecure in the firmware. Despite opting out of this 'value-add' and shutting it down on the router, it frequently manages to re-enable itself, forcing me to have to manage the router which is (soon to be was) used on my small office network. If you want performance without any headaches, DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER!!!

This router has worked well for me since I purchased it. The throughput is great being that I have my 4 wireless device, server, printer and voip connected to it. The administration is simple and straight forward. I would recommend this router to anyone needing a nice device for a cheap price.

Installs and works as expected. Excellent wireless range. Covers entire home (several levels) even though it sits in the basement. Didn't bother to use the install wizard but still took just a few minutes to replace my old router and get this one up and running. Nice unit.

Works flawlessly once you upgrade receiver to gigabit. Only slight inconvenience is a complete re-install needed to change settings. Very happy with the unit so far.

This thing was simple to install, but the setup CD couldn't configure the router, so I had to configure it manually(wasn't very difficult). Once it's online, the thing is awesome, and my WiFi hasn't gone offline since!

not a big network person but d upgrade from my old G router to this N router was freaking awsome....love d performance and havent had any problems had it for about 4 months...

Everything looked great out of the box.. Got a great price for this gigahertz router but after setup and use found problems.. Seems during heavy downloading it looses it's internet connection and has to be reset. After visiting the user forums regarding this problem it is a problem being worked on.. For me this is a real annoyance.. I tried to setup a user for network only access but it will only allow no access or all access. Because of this I lose printer access and file access from network drives for homework.. You can not block a user by mac address only by ip address.. Anyone could get that blocked ip depending on their 'connect' order.. You must configure static ip to make this work and for wireless this is not always the best choice..

Very EZ setup. Worked right out of the box. I get between 130 mbs and 300mbs download speed. It does just exactely what I need it to do. Small and highly efficient. I highly recommend it.

Very easy to setup and install. just what I was hoping for. Best signal I have had in a long time. One of the antennea was broke but I don't really need it so I will not be returning it.

this is a great wireless router did speed test on my laptops and my iphone 3g phone which are g and i had download speed at 5mb would highly recommend my old g router never gave me that speed

Bought this router to upgrade to wireless N. The shareport USB utility I ran virus scans and did not work out of the box. I updated the firmware and was able to share my printer for about a week. Then all my computers started acting funny. Ran several scans and detected infected .dll's from Dlink shareport utility. Note I could not get shareport to work through a powered or unpowered USB hub. Recommendation purchase a separate print server. I gave up on this version of shareport great idea but needs a lot of work.

Our old router has been dying for 2 months. Bought a DIR 615 and couldn't get wireless to work properly.I spent 100 bucks on this router and it has been perfect. After 3 months of grief this router is faster and always on. Our wireless connections have never been so strong and constantly connected. Worth the extra dollars!

I use this product in public safety environments as well as home networking. Large buildings with block firewalls seperating every room. I have as many as 3 workstations and 2 laptops connected and the network speed for all connections is excellent. I have had to install range boost antennas for some locations which helps contribute to the excellent coverage. All in all the performance from this D-Link is what I expected. If you want performance and durability here it is.

Works from 1 side of house to the other but not 100 percent signal still worth the money

I like the 1000 speed of this device which makes it easier for stream video from my file server to my TV. I also like the wireless Guest Zone, which make it easier for guests to log on to my home office network yet without access to my network file storage. Finally, the product is light weight and seems to be very stable without crash.

Setup was simple, broadcast is less than great. The router has issues with allocating bandwidth through multiple connections. I have noticed a considerable speed decrease on certain consoles throughout the house, while other connections are blazing. This router is perfect for a user who has only one to two active connections, but for the more advanced networked homes beware!
