This is about the fifth of these devices I've used. It's reasonably built, with lots of functionality. I would like one that is built tougher, and one with a better power supply method. Having my 500GB hard drive out of case is scary enough as is, but having it hanging from one cable (USB) with the weight of the power supply hanging off of it is very concerning. Useless user manual. Mind you, if you're buying one of these, I would assume you already know what you're doing.

From the reviews I get the impression when this works, it works great. I tried mine on several computers with 4 differnet drives and at best it recognized a mass storage device and assigned a drive letter to one drive. However, once i started trying to view files, it stopped working. It did not work on other computers or other drives. At this price I'm tempted to buy another and try it again.

If you need one of these. Buy this one. I have purchased 2 others from different places and this one does everything you need. I run a computer repair shop and use this every day. You can hook up laptop drives IDE and SATA. Works perfect.

this is a great product i had a stack of drives i had removed from various systems i've had and didn't remember if any were bad or not. I didn't want to open up a computer and keep swapping them in and out to find out so i got this and cleared out the pile in a couple of hours instead of days. I would recommend this to anyone.

If you own any PC, and for around 20$, this is one tool in your drawer you should have. PnP, works on 1.1 USB...no problem. Just wish it could do SCSI too, Would buy again.

This interfaced allowed me to recover a failed external USB-IDE drive, until a replacement could be obtained. I plan to keep this handy interface both at home and at the office. I consider this little guy essential.

I bought a laptop and wanted to get the information off of my desktop computer. This worked great for getting the items I needed off of the sata hardrives. I would definitely recommend this too anyone looking to hook up a hardrive with having crack open the case.

I work on a lot of friends & family computers, mostly cleaning viruses - this device allows me to pull the HD and connect to a known uninfected machine to perform virus scans. Also great for backups, I use a spare drive, create a backup and store it away for later use.

My wife's HP 6000 faulty motherboard finally got fried and the only way to retrieve her data, short of paying another $400+shipping for a replacement of the motherboard by HP (should be FREE!!!), was to purchase this USB cable for a fraction of the price. Now my wife can finally access her hard drive whenever she wants (she can also use it to back up more data), she's happy and Im relieved & very very happy she is off my hair :)

my daughters laptop died and she needed the information on the drive. This little gem allowed me to get it and put it on her new one. now we use the drive as a pocket backup for storing pictures. will probably buy another.
