Works great
Comment:
I have only used it on some old ATA drives I had laying around but it really got me out of trouble when I was able to recover some old pictures. No real setup for windows, just plug it in, scan the drives, and use. Even a non IT person could use this.

Works but, power adapter generates TV interference
Comment:
The interface works great. However, I had to use a different power supply to power the hard drive because this power adapter generated TV screen interference.

Good
Comment:
Works with my more recent hard-drives, wasn't able to make work 10 year old drives (floppy, cd, hdd). Probably not the product the problem, maybe that drives are simply dead... Also, you must ensure that the power is on the drive when connecting usb, or else, the pc won't detect the drive unless rebooted. Otherwise, works great.

Great product and price
Comment:
This adapter worked on just about every hard drive I had. Just had one 2.5 notebook drive that it would not work on. All in all great product.

I hooked it up to a IDE laptop HD and a PC SATA drive and was able to scan both for viruses, read, and transfer files. Performed as advertised.

Great Deal!
Comment:
I bought this and became dismayed over some of the negative comments. I'm running on a Mac OS X Leopard Intel drive with a old IDE drive as backup. Works great. Someone needs to give hook up sequence in one review. Here it is: hook up the USB adapter to the IDE drive, plug in the molex connector, plug in to the power supply, plug in the a/c power and wait a minute or so for the drive to get up to speed. Then plug in to the computer USB 2.0 port. Worked like a champ. Because of the reviews complaining about the power supply I am leaving it off unless I am xferring data. The 4 for quality is for the lack of good instructions. I'm a Mac not a PC!

excellent product
Comment:
Item works as described. Manuel was a bit light. But the device wasn't to hard to figure out. The only thing is the sata cable that came with the box isn't nearly as long as it is in the picture. But you can easily use any sata cable.

Invaluable peice of gear
Comment:
I have used this for SATA/PATA 2.5/3.5 inch hard drives. If you want to upgrade any hard drive, you need to get this. Windows Vista/Xp and Mac Os have no problem recognizing whatever you connect. 2.5" PATA power connection could be explained better. DA me. Is that what that little connector is for?

TESTING TOOL
Comment:
I discovered this connector and wondered if this item is worth the money it cost. It as one that likes to explore my computer skills, I find this item well worth it cost. I am allowed to test hard drives on other computers and set up and petition new hard drives.

I bought this to recover the hard drive from my daughters laptop with a bad motherboard. It worked flawlessly and we were able to recover 100 percent of her data. It can't be beat for the price!

I'll blame myself for the ugly parts...
Comment:
All in all a good and solid product. Exactly what I expected, no surprises. Been using it for over a month now and it's agreat way to rescue a hard drive or use an old HD for backup instead of purchasing a passport drive. Careful - don't expect real good performance out of an old HD over usb. That part is my fault. As for the quality of the product you will be pleased. Does what it advertises and good quality.

Simple Quality for Low Price

This product does excactly what is stated, it is exactly what we used at Geek Squad for data transfers. Need more explanation, this is the 20 dollar piece we used to charge people 170.00++ to transfer info. Buy it yourself and do it, then do it for your friends and family!!!

Great product for the price
Comment:
I purchased this with the intent of using it for mobile computer repairs/data backup. You can't beat this thing for the flexibility it gives you, especially for a mere $20. My only comment would be that it is a bit selective in the sequence that you power up the drive, it isn't always recognized the 1st time, but never fails the 2nd.

Quick, easy, and reliable!
Comment:
I already had one of these, ordered it awhile ago. My mother wanted one, so I ordered, for her. It's reliable, and works like it says it does. The only problem I've had with it, is when trying to load more than one usb hard drive, it will not see the other once this is plugged in, or see this one if the other is plugged in first. That may just be my usb interfaces, but that's it. Great product, will likely buy again and again.
