Absolutely fantastic device! As I write this review I am currently making an image of an IDE hard drive to my laptop so I can replace the drive with a larger one. Ive got 3 of these from TigerDirect which are all Sabrent brand. No problems with any of them. I keep one at the office, one at home, and one in my car for when I have to use it at a client site (like right now). The newest ones manufactured have nice little lights on them to let you know if the connection between the device and the computer is working. If this thing cost $100 Id still own 3 of them.

As a computer technician, I have used this device many times on all kinds of different drives...it works like a charm. Pays for itself over and over again. This is a ''must-have'' tool for techs!

Got it to work on both a laptop and regular drives! I love this thing. My only complaint is the instructions were lacking for a novice like myself. I had to figure that the Jumper settings are printed on the hard drive itself , and DEVICE 0 is the same as Master Mode. I have Windows 2000 and it did not recognize the drives at first. Do not restart your computer with it connected, mine crashed and I had to play with the boot settings in Bios until my computer booted up again. What finally worked for me was after everything is hooked up and it still is not recognized, unplug it from you computer at the USB port, then replug it in. That worked on every Drive I had.

I've owned this for 3 plus years and have use it on everything from a 250 mb hard drive to 500 gb hard drive. No problems. Works like I would expect. It has save me from shutting down computer to change disk D to another disk as I go through my 30 plus disk inventory looking for a file.

I bought this today. I have only used the IDE component. Worked well on 2GB (very old), 80GB and 250GB drives. Did not work on a 3GB that I tried - might be the drive. Tried with both WinXP and Vista. The only observations are the power supply has not switch so the drive will continually run and the connections are a little sensitive so needed to be well seated (pushed in) to ensure it works. The manual is poorly written but the only thing you need to read is that the Drive Jumper needs to be in Master Mode. My drives that I tested had two partitions and I was able to access both fine.

Out of sheer determination, I suppose, I have on 2 different occasions puchased one of these devices because I really wish to have a working model. Neither worked at all. Maybe someone else will come out with one that actually works. I didn't even bother trying for a refund but I am sure Tiger would be fair about it.

Came with all necessary cables. Worked great as test device and to transfer files. Got my HTPC up and running. I'm planning on using it to back-up my hard drive before reinstalling XP on my main PC. Cables fit fine for me (SATA hard drives). If you work or play with computers this is a must-have item.

When it works, it is as good as it should be -- and that's great! When it doesn't work, it is worse then it should be: making problems where there were none. Also: no interface for SATA laptop drives. Not recommended.

I bought this product from the local TigerDirect in Mississauga. Right out of the box this thing works great. It comes with instruction that are pretty straight forward. The only problem is the power cable that connects to the HD does not really fit in that while i suggest you put the HD on a flat surface and the adapter as well. But overall this baby gets the job done.

It is a good idea but on mine the 3 1/2'' IDE connector is so loose that it falls out of the receptacle. Better quality would make my rating go to Super!

Folks, it couldn't be easier to use, whether for backups or simply accessing an older drive from previous PC's, this baby Rocks. Out of the box, simple, EFFECTIVE. Even VISTA regonized the external USB storage device within minutes, although not instantaneous. I've recommended to others that THIS is the one to use ! Great job, Tiger Direct, in finding a product that does what it says, and for a price that's chepaer than a tank of gas ! TG

I was very skeptical about this product but after purchasing it it work perfect. Ihave window vista home premium and this baby does the work, after taking out my defective hard drive(virus infected) from my computer and connecting to my laptop i was able to scan and remove the virus. this product have all the connection for your hard drive including your power adaptor and cables (for ide/stat drives).

This is absolutely worth every penny. The day it arrived I used it to recover almost 4GBs of data from a laptop (SATA) hard drive. The laptop just stopped working and my niece had everything from pictures, to business plans, poetry, financial information, and another book she is writing. She can now move on like nothing happened. As far as I am concerned, this has already paid for itself, and it was only used once.

What an excellent device! I bought this adapter to use with my Amiga 4000 to connect old 2.5'' and 3.5'' IDE hard drives to my Zorro Deneb USB card and to allow me to use a new SATA hard drive for external storage. It works perfectly and the Amiga's USB stack detects the drives attached as mass storage devices and mounts them automatically on Workbench. I've also used it on my PCs for transferring bulk data quickly rather than using the network.

I have a few similar devices, but this one is the most flexible. I especially appreciate that it powers 2.5'' PATA drives via the included power supply instead of relying on the USP connection for power -- some of the larger IDE 2.5'' drives draw too much power for USB and become unreliable, but the included power supply should be enough for any drive.

Great addition to my ''toolbox.'' The red & green LEDS showing USB and SATA connectivity are a nice touch. Only complaint is that there is NO manufacturer's info on the box!

This product worked great! I just read the crappy directions and hooked it up like they kind of indicated. Windows Home Vista Premium detected it, loaded the drivers and I was viewing the data on my old drive.

this is one of the best products ive ever bought from tigerdirect. it is plug and play so no driver instalation unless you have 2000 and down. my only disapiontment is that the power has to be plugged into the hdd/cd drive for about five seconds before you can plug the USB into the computer. otherwise this is a very good product!

I have used this device for cd/dvd burner,laptop hd sata , floopy, desktop hd SATA 1 and 2 and IDE with no issues. It works right out of box with Vista. Great item for the toolbox. And thanks Tiger for fast shipping again, I have ordered from you for a few years and no problems.

Works well, takes little space, and does the job. it is a great tool for us techs who need to temporarily connect drives externally but don't need a box to enclose them. My only suggestion would be to put the SATA connector at the tip (similar to the PATA connectors on the sides) instead of the top.
