This tiny guy can deal with any drive I throw at it. Greatest piece of equipment for troubleshooting with no the use of a heavy tower. Plug and play with Windows and Mac systems alike. Think me, I operate on both types of systems. None to report. I know most individuals are saying that the cords/cables are also brief. But, you have to recall that this is a tool (in essence). It's not really meant to be utilised as permanent HHD answer. Newegg has difficult drive situations starting at บ. What would be seriously nice is if this came with it's personal carrying case for remote service calls. Wouldn't that be cool?

tends to make troubleshooting tricky drives and computer's/laptops a breeze. file transfer speed is rapid, and never ever had a issue with it the SATA connector has been temperamental for me at instances. it appears to take a whilst for it to recognize a sata drive on it. also, for some cause i wouldn't boot up with a dvd rom connected to it. i didn't bother troubleshooting it so i can't say if it was absolutely this to blame or an additional issue for the price tag i paid for, it was was a great deal and has helped me in fixing buddies' and coworkers' pc. in the computer repair and IT enterprise, this is a necessity.

It worked once. Right after accessing a hd extended enough for me to use it for a day the hd died, dead, kaput, never ever to return to life. This has been reported by other people on right here but I bought it anyway - one particular of my a lot of errors in life. Would not recommend to a buddy (or enemy).

Evaluations for this product were very beneficial in deciding to get it. Moral of the story, if fellow Newegg nerds approve of it, the item is most almost certainly worth while.Really economical, great option to an enclosure, have used it for both Serial ATA drives and IDE. Merely connect the adapter to the back of the difficult drive, and the computer will detect the drive as an external/portable drive. I've utilized this in difficult drives running Windows OS as far back as Windows 98 and as high as Windows 7. I am an intermediate-advanced residence user mainly familiar with Windows OS. This gear doesn't take a rocket scientist to use. Simply get rid of the tough drive from the CPU's chassis, and go from there.I do smaller household/office IT function on the side, and it has been a fantastic investment and incredibly useful in drawing in company (i.e., taking company away from the Geek Squad). None that I have run into however, possibly won't run into any unless the issue craps out at an early ago (crossing fingers that it won't).

Functions excellent on SATA drives. WORTHLESS on PATA drives. The IDE Information and molex power connector won't fit subsequent to every single other on three diverse drives I tried, a DVD ROM, DVD RAM, & CD-RW. Don't get to use with older 5 1ǚ" optical drives.

Permits you to access files from internal tough drives Wish it had far more instructions with it or the firm's web site did. Also, wish the power brick's power cable had a bit far more firm of an entry into the hole. If you don't get it in enough, you could find it effortless to knock out To get it operating with an IDE challenging drive, plug the hard drive into the adapter, then the power cord into the tough drive. Wait a couple of seconds then plug the adapter into your personal computer's USB port. When I discovered out that was the order to do items, it worked perfectly.

It works "if" you're careful with the connections AND the drive can be placed quite close to each a power outlet and a USB port on your laptop or computer. Poor quality connectors. Brief cables and power cord. A couple of years ago I bought Vantec's version of this device (the CB-ISATAU2) and was so pleased with it I decided to get one more to preserve at a relatives. Sadly, I stumbled across this Sabrent which appeared to be the identical factor for less, and decided to give it a try.Sadly, the high quality of the pins on in male side of the adapter to convert from IDE to SATA for the power connection is so bad that they differ in length AND wiggle so badly it's tough to mate with the female side of the adapter. Also, the energy cord comes loose from the power adapter really very easily.Just as negative, all the cords and cables are "much" shorter than the Vantec unit.I give it a two rather of a 1 only mainly because I can make it perform "if" the cords and cables are lengthy sufficient for the situation.

* Worked to image a couple 2.five PATA/IDE laptop difficult drives more than USB.* Innovative setup. * Documentation is a joke. This lead me to question when and exactly where to provide energy to the unit or a drive.

Took a two.5" SATA challenging drive out of a dead Toshiba laptop. Once I remembered to plug up the power cable for the tough drive it fired appropriate up and was instantly recognized by windows explorer. I was in a position to transfer all of my documents, music, and photographs to my usb thumb drive. This is a terrific item for these sort of emergencies. none

Performs great for all drives. Will barely fit on some CD/DVD drives When plugged into some optical drives, it partially covers the power inlet, and you have to crowd/jam the power plug in to perform. Has occurred on a couple of drives, not all.

Little, flexible, and extremely compatible. Reads SATA/PATA tough discs and all DVD/Floppy drives. It's the ideal all-in-one cable! A single of the DVD drives I owned had the power port and the IDE port correct subsequent to every single other. I plugged that actual device in the IDE port and it blocked out the power port. Nothing an extension cable (for IDE's) can't solve....other than that small inconvenience, there's no con's I could assume of. I've had to deal with external instances, boxes, and big power supplies for a while and it's been a pain to unscrew/screw the box/case every time I wanted to switch drives. Not to mention I had each SATA/PATA drives and I necessary two external situations for each. With a laptop and a want for mobility, carrying about these circumstances was something I was dying to get rid of.Buying this cable was the ideal obtain I've ever accomplished so far and I have no regrets. With this one cable, I was able to connect all my SATA/PATA drives each three.five" and two.5" laptop challenging drives, my DVD/RW drives, and my floppy/zip drives. Definitely, it was one thing basic but I'm just actually glad I didn't need any significant situations or a number of cables to connect all these devices to the pc. Extremely suggest this product. I'm confident I'll finish up getting one more 1....

It worked for IDE. Sata part of the controller didn't operate. I tried it with a diff sata cable, no very good. I tried it with a various power supply for the drive, no great. Nevertheless functions with IDE, but not Sata, won't spin up the drive. What can I say, but stay away from this product. Also, they didn't put their brand name on any of the parts or paperwork, as though they don't want credit for this one. I bought a diff brand and it functions, although it fell apart 1st use and I had to snap the case together. When shopping, it didn't seriously appear like I could pay a lot more to get greater good quality, though, by what folks are saying. However, I didn't try it on SATA till now, 5 months after I bought it, so I'll likely have to trash it.

Worked fine for the initial two transfers, 1 2.five" drive and month or two later 1 three.5" drive. Tried to use it just lately on a third drive and the power adapter no longer works. No sparks or smoke or other coincident discernable behavior. Guess it just knew when the warranty period expired. Bummer!!
