Performs like it is supposed to. Plug up your drive and you can use it like a USB external drive. I have used it on all three fundamental challenging drives, no dvd drives but. As soon as I got it, I place it by way of it's paces just to see what it could do and which evaluations are valid and which are complete of bull. Transfer speeds seem ok, incredibly stable, it's seriously not that flimsy, and the cables are adequate length to do emergency repair and backup info. Extremely useful as well as you can hook it up to your laptop to run diagnostics on a tricky drive that is nevertheless mounted in its respective computer. If you have computers and use them, you need to have one of these.I will update in about 6 months and tell the rest of my findings. Doesn't come with something to mount your hard drive in or on while you have it plugged in. A straightforward rubber "glove" of some sort to shield the drive would be great and could be slipped on and off. Be sure the drive you are working with is safe and isolated. Doesn't impact overall performance although, so loses no eggs. Be sure to plug in energy just before you plug the USB into your pc or it won't recognize the drive. May possibly have to play with jumper settings from what it says in the guidelines, but not their fault. commonly the fault of the manufacturer if you wanna place blame, mainly because their jumper settings vary so much. Power provide doubles as the common 4 pin power connection. Also has the 5v splitter for energy to your 2.5' IDE drives (that's why i purchased it originally) and sata energy splitter.

This is the most useful device I have ever owned!I've used it test and recover information off of so numerous tricky drives, both IDE and SATA. Not too long ago I applied it to temporarily hook up a DL-DVD burner to an old eMac! Automatically detected in Vista, Win 7, and OSX. USB cord is kinda short? Acquire a single now to conserve your self waiting time later. Every couple of months I need this for some random process and I'm constantly glad to have it on hand.

1. Plug and play2. Compact, works with all laptop/desktop SATA/IDE drives3. Quick transfer speedsfour. All adapters included / box snugly holds all parts.5. Great price tag 1. Cable on energy adapter is a bit brief on the hard-drive side, as it is as well brief to let the cable hang from desk to floor (Though energy side is longish @ 4ft)two. Ditto for included SATA cable (only 3 inches) implies looking at status lights can be tough on drives with usually oriented sata adapters (the activity lights are upside down and on the desk/floor). Functions good on all the tricky drives I've tried it on, very rapidly speeds. A have to-have IT solution. I wish the box had space for a tough-drive to fit, so I could carry the unit as one particular item.

Functions for everything I need to have it for. I frequently am fetching stuff for people today from dead laptops or portable tough drives, and this does the job. I'm under no circumstances confident of the order I need to plug items in- energy, sata, usb, but I constantly get it proper sooner or later. Unless you want to buy an enclosure for each and every different size of tough drive and CD drive with each distinct connection, appear no additional.

Directions...don't use them unless you seriously don't know what you are doing. (In which case you likely must give them to your kid...who does know!)Following the directions precisely would direct you to Format your drive...losing anything you may want to recover! Recall to Generally set the drive to 'Master' else the device won't see it.

1. Performs as intended or as it need to. 2. the IDE connector is a little bit wider - producing it challenging to attach the four prong (female) connector to the ide device (CD ROM or Tough Drive). i was thinking of returning this item proper away mainly because of the IDE connector was wider than it need to. The four-prong power connector and the IDE connector require to be hooked up together. You have to figure out a way to get these two connectors hooked up to your device no matter if its a tough drive or a CD ROM.

I use this item about once a week as a Pc Technician. We have two on the job for information cloaning, drive scans, and data transfers. It operates excellent! I loved it so considerably, I'm buying the same a single for household. It's a wonderful tool to have since it has SATA, IDE, and laptop IDE connectors. If you're lazy and don't like to take the IDE drives out when connecting them to one more pc, the cable sticks out as well far and it won't reach the plug on the drive because the cable hits the inside wall, ram, or other objects of the case and motherboard. Not too large of a dealAlso... it is quite effortless to skip a pair of pins when attaching to an IDE drive. You plug it in and absolutely nothing happens and you wonder why it's not reading. Then you look at the connection and it's off by 1 set of pins. Not a huge deal. USB cord could be longer. Extension USB cord is a must for a tech shop.Wish SATA laptop drives could be powered by the USB. It's the only drive exactly where I require to drag out the power brick, otherwise I use the desktop's power provide to power the drives.

I have three of these for making use of at operate to transfer information, and have only ever ran in to concerns due to two reasons. One is due to dead drives, adn the other I will place beneath con's Does not assistance (at least last I tried), solid state drives, which I am starting to see a lot more of. Also you have to plug it in a specific way, or it won't recongize the drive. Was glad the newest version, had a power switch on the power cord, and came with a longer SATA cable.

Thats a tiny more than a gig a minute. Its little and transportable, which is nice and hassle-free. it has all the connectors you require for power and transfer.functions in windows 7 None The item works wonderful for the price, and I consider the critiques it has gotten so far are all accurate.
