I knew I needed to back up my hard drive and hadn't gotten around to it.... you can imagine what happened next. I was able to pull the drive out, connect this device, then retrieve all of the pictures and home movies on the drive! A pure life-saver- I was able to just plug the drive into a USB port on a functioning computer and back-up.

This product does what it says it does. Comes with all the connection types I needed and more that I am sure I will need. Compact, but sturdy and super simple to use.

I ordered this product and got just what I expected A no hassle system to connect several types of drives to a usb connection and so far I have had no problem doing so

It works pretty much as you'd expect. Plenty of versatility too, with all it's adapters. But if your drive is hosed to begin with (like mine was), it's still not going to work. People complaining that it smoked their drives probably were in the same boat as me, just didn't realize it. Or they smoked their drives themselves by handling it improperly. Whatever, I had like 8 drives dating back to my first computer build and was able to retrieve data off 5 of them, just not the one I wanted....

With this product I was able to retrieve all my music, videos, and documents from my damaged desktop pc. I Removed the hard drive from my computer and hooked it up with this product and my new computer automatically read it as an external hard drive. Best thing is, it doesn't need any software, just plug it and retrieve your files. I recommend it, you never know when u may need it.

the best usb device for the home computer repairs ever. i have used it to fix everything from a laptop to a desktop drive, the fact you can hook up any drive to it to any computer is wonderful which allows you to get files off of a system before you reinstall your os. the absolute must need for anyone that fixes their own computer

Never again need to play around swapping HDs in computers to check if HD is OK. ANY drive can be used as a backup drive. VERY happy with the device & the price.

Beware of this total piece of garbage. I used it on it on two IDE drives and it sent them both up in smoke.literally. Then after that the power adapter stopped working.which is fine because it was going straight in the trash anyway. Buyer beware.

I ordered 2 of these and the 1st one only worked with the IDE port(Sata didn't work). The connecter for the sata p/s was very hard to connect on both of these products,very cheap and tight.The second one I received,nothing worked and now their sending me a 3rd one. Very poor quality!

The user needs virtually no orientation to use this device. I plugged the pin adapter into my ATA hard drive. I connected the power supply and inserted the USB adapter to my Windows Vista computer. The hard drive appeared as an additional drive. Voila! I was able to recover all of my data. It works like a charm.

The device does everything it claims...and does it well. The cable hook-up takes some experimentation since there are so many combinations possible (IDE HD, IDE CD.DVD, SATA HD, SATA CD/DVD). I love this device and have already rescued many of mine and my friends data from supposedly CRASHED computers. If you have ever or will ever in the future work on a PC, this device is a must!

Right after downloading some files onto my laptop, it crashed, and nothing I tried would allow to access these files. I pulled the hardrive plugged in this adapter and in no time I had transferred all my files to my desktop. Worth every penny!!!

I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to access any ide or sata drive without needing to install in a bay. Worked right out of the box. No drivers needed with WinXP or Vista. Usb interface has decent speed. Make sure to power drive before connecting to usb interface. Follow the easy instructions and you cannot go wrong.

This adapter worked right out of the box. By using the adapter I was able to save the data from a SATA disk. I highly recommend this adapter.
