Nice Features.
Comment:
I'm currently using the adapter on 2 projects, and will be using it for data recovery off of several old HD's I have laying around. Features are better than I've found on similar products availble to me locally, and the pricing is better.

Perfect - Just what I needed!
Comment:
I purchased this to transfer files from a failing external hard-drive. Worked perfectly and easy to figure out. The price is really goood - you get many things for about the price that just one item would cost somewhere else (I bought just the sata cable from Office Depot and it was the same price as this entire kit! Sure it was a longer cable, but I did not need a long cable) This kit is all you need! Note: This is the first review I have ever written - Anywhere! This is how impressed I was with this product.

Great way to put new life in old devices
Comment:
It's pretty tough to beat this unit for what all it connects to, and what you can do with it. Speed is pretty good. The only glitch I found is on IDE drives with the regular 4 pin connector, it's a but tight to connect power and data. You need to put them together in a certain order, otherwise, it's take it apart and try again. Minor malfunction for a device that connects to just about everything. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I needed it, and have recommended it to others. 4.95 stars.

Great tool
Comment:
This worked perfectly and easily. I removed a hard drive from an otherwise dead computer (fried motherboard), plugged in the power adapter and usb cable. It popped right up in Windows Explorer on my Windows XP system just like thumb drives. I easily accessed data on the hard drive, copying it to other media. Although I wouldn't recommend having the drive powered on for lengthy periods of time, this is a great little tool for dumping data from hard drives that have no case. I would imagine it could be used for backing up data too, but, like I said, I wouldn't recommend having the drive plugged in for extended periods of time.

Work wonders
Comment:
This is a great tool. I was able to recover an old laptop hard drive, that would no longer boot, for use as an external drive. The price is worth this alone.

If you ever do any work on computers you need this
Comment:
I had an issue with two different computers where I had to retrieve data from hard drives. This cable allowed me to do this quickly and made two customers very happy. If you work on computers even occasionally, you need to have one of these in your arsenal of tools.

Great addition to a computer user's toolbox
Comment:
You only have to use this once to appreciate how useful it is. I have one pc with removable drives and this allows me to transfer large asmounts of data between several other pcs. It is just too easy.

Excellent for hot swaps
Comment:
So, if you're like me you have a bunch of old HD laying around with a ton of data and they'rea mix of SATA and IDE types. And you just purchased a new, larger HD for your machine. This product is the answer to your woes: it's simple, requires no software and allows hot swapping of drives. Anybody, even the non-technically inclined, can use this baby. The only downside to this vs. a regular toaster is that there a few cables. However, for the price (I paid around $20), this is an unbeatable deal.

Every Techie Should Have One
Comment:
I bought this for my startup computer repair business because I was sick of taking the hard drives out of the computers and enclosing them than taking it apart again. This is much more simple and easy and doesn't require me to have enclosures for every type of hard drive. The instructions were not very good but if your a techie you are used to such things or even working without instructions. Overall its a really great product have used it several times and has worked flawlessly.

This is a necessity for any toolkit!
Comment:
This product works well. As others have stated, you cannot rely on enclosed instructions. Must use your own common sense. Once connected to the hard drive, make sure to power it up before making the USB connection.

Did not work - Manufac Unresponsive
Comment:
I received this product and immediately discovered it came with a faulty plug. I swapped it out with one I had and crisis averted. After getting the drive powered up, my computer would not recognize it. After several emails to the manufacturer's support desk, they began to ignore my emails once they did not have an answer to my dilemma.

No thought required to use
Comment:
I didn't have to read the manual to figure it out because it was that simple. Nice useful tool when .... hits the fan. This also comes in handy with netbooks because they don't have an internal DVD drive and I had a spare internal DVD drive sitting around doing nothing. This is also a cheap way to add a blu-ray drive to a laptop.

No brainer, plugged it in and it worked
Comment:
Bought adapter to see if a dead USB backup drive was really dead. Removed drive out of plastic container, plugged drive into USB adapter, adapter into my computer and read all the files contained therein. Drive was fine, saved all data.

Works like advertised
Comment:
Old PC gave up the ghost, took out HD housing containing Flopy and 250gb & 50gb HDs, IED and plugged 250 gb into new PC (which is SATA) works like a charm, going to buy 2nd unit to have access to both old HD and data, also great way to have cheap external HDs wether old IED or SATA, also its so simple even I did it.

Comment:
This thing is great. When my desktop computer died and I had to use my laptop, I was able to access my hard drive with no problems. I used it all the way up until I put the old hard drive in my new system. It even has sata cables for newer hard drives. It's awesome.

Absolute necessity in a nerds toolkit
Comment:
I've used this to recover data from trashed systems, clone drives and general file transfers. Very versatile and has yet to fail me. I've found that you have to plug in the power cable 1st and let the drive fully spin up then connect the sata cable the the usb and it works every time. If I change the order it doesn't alway connect.

Nice product, poor directions
Comment:
This product works as it proposes. My only problem is that the directions that accompany the adapter are worthless. I will try to help by suggesting to apply power to the drive before attching USB. I did not and fried the logic board on HD. After replacing the board, and applying power first, it has worked great and has been a great tool.
