I mainly use it for long term storage and weekly back ups and it works great. I can't say abotu the speed though, I never took notice. The only downside: there is no power switch. |

Just what I needed

Excellent for off-site backups. I have 4 for our servers. I run batch file, take offsite, place in fireproof safe. Great for disaster prepardness, back up of ALL scanned docs, tax papers, pictures, etc. Wish it had backup software as a memory stick does for non-techs, but ok for me. |

Super Hard Drive!

Iomega is a quality company that has been around for a long time producing excellent products. This is a 1TB Hard Drive for less than $100? Mighty hard to beat that. This HD is exactly as advertised and this site is a remarkably fast and efficient company to do business with. |

does everything expected, plays well with Linux

I'm using it frequently as the ultimate rsync backup of four computers. Newer versions of Linux are happy to read & write the installed ntfs file system. My only complaints are minor... the blue activity light should be in a more visible place, and once it made loud clicking noises (parking?) about which I was somewhat reassured by the mfg. web pages. All in all, I'm quite satisfied. |

It allowed me to do a full disaster recovery

I wanted an Ext HD and recovery software to allow me to restore a failed machine at the push of a button. A week after setting up a new machine (30 hours of configuration) had a virus problem and system failed. Luckily I had this unit and the bundled software - pressed the button and presto chango - a working machine again! Highly recommended. |

Received product within 2 days of ordering, in time for the weekend. The old drive install was tight but this prevents drive from rattling around in the case. The USB connection has two plugs on the PC end but only need to use one to power the drive up so it is unnecessary for the second connector and is a pain but no deal breaker. Like the design pattern on the case and overall I would purchase again. |

Good value and went to 1Tb for only a few dollars more. I have 2 PC's at home and a laptop in another city, so bought the USB version as a portable drive. Lightweight and easy to connect and transfer, have loaded all of my photos onto the drive and freed up space on PC and laptop. Only change for next version put the drive connected light on front of case not the back. |
